Residents are being encouraged to have their say on a new strategy that aims to provide direction for the provision of outdoor recreation opportunities across the City.
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the Outdoor Recreation Strategy will provide a way forward to address use of the City's beaches, waterways and other natural areas for a wide range of activities such as walking, hiking, picnicking, camping, horse riding, fishing, surfing, power boating, sailing and waterskiing.
Cr Aldous said the study is an important process in ensuring residents and visitors to Caloundra are able to continue to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle that they value for years to come.
"Caloundra City is renowned for its availability of outdoor recreation choices," Cr Aldous said.
"Outdoor recreation is an important part of our lifestyle, contributing to the liveability of the City and health and wellbeing of the community, and its important that outdoor recreation opportunities meet the needs of the local community while ensuring these valuable resources are well managed and protected for future generations."
Residents, along with key stakeholders, will have an opportunity to have their say through a range of surveys and meetings.
Community meetings will be held at:
• Caloundra City Council (Beerwah Room) 6.30pm, Monday 18 June;
• Beerwah and District Community Hall, Peachester Road, Beerwah 6.45pm Tuesday 19 June.
