Our annual Paint In Convention will again be held at the beautiful Crown Plaza Resort, Pelican Waters on the Sunshine Coast. The Convention dates are 17th to 19th July, 2009. The theme this year is 'Paint by the sea" and as it is our 18th birthday we will be having a Coming Of Agecelebration dinner on the Saturday night.

Mother of Pearl Box by Donna May - Cutting, applying and painting on Mother of Pearl. Leaves are in zhoistovo style using shading and painting wet on wet. Gold decorative boarder.
Snow Leopard (Mini) by Ainsley McPherson - Deerfoot to create fur, stippling, slip-slop background
Secluded Cove by Sue Nelson - Palette knife rocks and sea froth, wet on wet blending, spattering.
Roses by Margaret Jones - Design on porcelain bisque. Bisque can be exciting surface to paint on, totally different from wood or paper. Plate has a pretty bow boarder.
Angel by Tracey Boremann - Cut out Angel with scroll wings and Hope Word.
Cup and Tray by Judy Minter - Hand painted roses using enamel paints, backed so painting is permanent.
Roses by Janette Newman - Stroke work.

English Chippendale Tray with Pansies by Hazel Anthony - Transparent underpainting, washes, wet on wet blending, veiling, liner work. English Chippendale techniques.

Echidna's Come in Other Colours Too by Sue Nelson - Little echidna nestled amongst dried leaves and twigs. Glazes, how to work that old filbert to help create our little fellow, palette knife texture.
Nostalgic Action Toys by Kay Coulch - Somersaulting toy (last seen 1950's/60's). Easy painting style. Consideration of safety for kids, wire bending.
True Blue Tulips by Lindy Clarkson CDA/TDA - Achieving soft blended backgrounds & building form, through the use of graduated colours.
Cassowary Apron by Judi Beggs - Painting on fabric with blending & floating.

Lady Cheetah by Lindy Clarkson CDA/TDA - Learn to create a linen-look background and use snow medium to make a stone look frame for this beautiful big cat.
Midnight Surfer by Margaret Jones - Design includes sponging, screening and splattering, using acrylic paint and metallics.
Underwater Wonderland by Sue Nelson - How to do corals with ease using stipple brushes and flat brushes.

teacher profiles
Donna May Qld. Has been painting for many years, her speciality is Russian & mother of pearl. She has designed many pieces of her work and taught at many workshops. Her expertise has enabled her to teach at international levels (USA).
Ainsley McPherson After her house burnt down took up ceramics, and then took up folk art 16 years ago. Her speciality is in painting animals. Have publications in the Folk & Decorative Painting Magazine, won awards not only in Vic but Qld as well
Sue Nelson NSW. Loves to go "Outback" to paint local scenes using many medium and lots of colour. Her paintings of the Outback have 3 dimensional qualities, not to be missed in learning theses techniques.
Margaret Jones Qld. Her background is in ceramics, with exciting differences to painting on canvas or wood. She paints in all styles and mediums. At the moment her work is specialising in quick painted pieces with large brush strokes.
Tracey Boremann A Jo Sonja Supporting Artist has been teaching 15 years, paints in decorative Folk art styles. Her Designs are regularly featured in Australian Decorative Painting and Handmade magazines.
Judy Minter Qld. Painting and teaching for many years with numerous workshops to her credit. Her skills are in designing and teaching flat brush Roses not only on canvas but as an experienced a glass painter as well.
Janette Newmann NSW. A Matisse Consultant and Certified Ros Singleton Teacher. Her combination of colour and gold enhancement go hand in hand in her artworks. She has entered many art shows and won numerous awards.
Hazel Anthony Vic. Her work has been published in various Aus magazines & Decorative Painter in the USA. She has been teaching since 2001. This year Hazel is teaching two projects at the SDP convention Illinois, USA. She is the Australian Distributor for "Jansen Art" products.
Lindy Clarkson (CDA, TDA) Qld. Paints in many styles and mediums. A much published artist in Australia and overseas. Lindy's Genesis oil paintings have won her many accolades. Has taught in Las Vegas (USA) & recent winner of the John Bostock Memorial Challenge QLD.
Kay Coulch Qld. Kaye is a founding member of Wide Bay Folk Artists. She has had articles published in Aus Decorative painting, & has won awards for oil paintings, & for Decorative Folk Art, both judged work & People's Choice several times. Designs & produces unique art pieces to customer theme.
Heather McVea Qld. Her back ground is in Nursing (ex RN) then Pottery (qualified) came along. Commenced folk art painting in'95 Aus, then '96 in NZ. She paints in all mediums, likes to do large paintings & non traditional artwork.
Judi Beggs Qld A qualified potter background. Has won numerous awards at both the "Brisbane Exhibition", & local art competitions. A long term painter in all mediums and has articles published in Folk Art and Decorative Magazine.
Roberta Hubbard Qld. Has been painting for many years. Operates her own studio in the Atherton Tablelands and has a large faithful following of students. Paints and designs in many styles to create wonderful pieces.
Gail Barbeler Qld. Commenced painting 1995 and enjoyed most styles of painting especially Russian style. A new member of Qld after many years with FDAA, since I moved north 12 months ago. Have retired from work to pursue my love of painting & the outdoors.
