Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival & Mooloolaba BG ITU World Cup
Peregian Springs into swim
"Life just keeps getting better," is the catch phrase of principal sponsor of the 1000m Peregian Springs Mooloolaba Ocean Swim, and quite appropriate as the swim continues to grow in stature and competitor numbers each year.
Peregian Springs has been the naming rights sponsor of the swim for the past four years and continues its association siting an alignment with their development.
Peregian Springs is a master planned residential community integrating schools, recreational facilities, shopping centre and a private members golf course. Located adjacent to the Noosa National Park and just minutes away from 3 of the Sunshine Coasts most beautiful patrolled surf beaches. Life keeps getting better at Peregian Springs.
The Peregian Springs Mooloolaba Ocean Swim forms part of the three day sporting spectacular of the Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival held from Friday 28 - Sunday 30 March.
Managing Director of USM Events, Garth Prowd said we decided to introduce a swim event to maximise the exposure and make use of one of Mooloolaba's biggest draw cards - Mooloolaba Beach. We wanted to encourage patronage to both the swim and the Surf Lifesaving Club, offering locals a chance to be part of the festival.
The supporting events on the Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival Program offer locals a chance to be part of the festival without having to tackle the triathlon.
Organisers are keen to attract the support of local swimmers and urge them to enter this year and not miss out.
The swim is not just for the elite but encourages people of all ages and abilities with categories from Under 13 to the more mature 80+.
The swim has attracted some of the big names in distance swimming including, Brendan Capel, Josh Santacaterina, Cameron Smith and local Ironman champion Dean Mercer.
In the women's field current 10km Australia Open Water Swimming Champion and 2006 Commonwealth Games 800m silver medallist Melissa Gorman has dominated this event winning the past three years.
The Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival and ITU World Cup - proudly supported by the Queensland Government through Queensland Events.
This event is funded by the Maroochy Shire Council with the support of the Maroochy Tourism Industry Advisory Board.
