The Permafest 2005 celebrations will serve to increase awareness of the benefits of permaculture and the positive effects the design principles have for building a sustainable future for our society.
There will be non-stop entertainment throughout the day featuring a wide variety of performers, songwriters, DJ, bands and street theatre performers from the Coast and the local region.
The Opening will take place at 10.00 am with a Welcome by Lyndon Davis of the Gubbi Gubi people followed by a great line-up of original musicians including the Noel Gardner Trio, Anya La Zanya and Cooran Acoustic Musicians, singer songwriter Klare Kuolga, Vaku, Sanserif, The Kindness of Strangers, Jason Castle and Tony Potter of Subfreq,, Zabuhtu, Mad Flower, a fire show by The Carnival of the Divine Imagination, Goassamer Gaia, Kooii, DJ Paul Abad and Kafka.
There will be craft market stalls, permaculture workshops, a range of food outlets and a chai tea & coffee tent. Tickets for the whole day will be $15.00 or $12.00 concession, available at the entrance. The event site will be an alcohol free zone.
The funds raised will be invested in materials & development of the gardens, which are managed by the not-for-profit Maroochy Community Permaculture Group.
The aims inspiring the Permfest festival are twofold. Firstly, to generate funds for the continued operation & maintenance of the Yandina Community Gardens, a not-for-profit, permaculture based farm and demonstration garden.
Secondly, just as importantly, is to assist in the establishment of a community 'Eco-versity' at the site, which will combine training in permaculture design & principles with the newly established educational facilities.
All members of the community are invited to Permafest 2005, to enjoy the entertainment & food, relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the Yandina Community Gardens!
