Anti-poverty Week was established several years ago in australia as an expansion of UN's Annual International Anti-poverty Day on october 17 to begin promoting awareness of the issues also in own country.
Sunshine Coast Regional Housing Council (scrhc) in collaboration with Nambour CSIT diploma community welfare work students have organised an event 'project hope' in support of anti-poverty week 2005 to be held at nambour csit 'windosor hall' on monday 17th october start time 11.30 am.
A community education project, 'project hope' will be using music and dance to capture our adience and lift and compel people into thought and participation.
Entertainment will be followed by a tribal drum calling to announce the commencement of a formally facilitated form.
Consisting of 4-6 guest speakers from government and non-government agencies fprum speakers will expound on issues emphasising the link between provision of affordable housing and its effect on poverty on the sunshine coast.
Our aim is to have an effect on the community and facilitate change-not only in circumstance of those in poverty, but in attitude and action of all communities. we wish to emphasise the whole community as stakeholders in the continued health and well being of its members, in support of and to strengthen the programs, systems and supports already in place, to encourage continued development and sustainment of strategic plans to eliminate homelessness and poverty.
All service providers, service users and community members are encouraged to attend- all are welcome
donation bins will be provided for those who wish to bring along some non- perishable food items.
