NEW SMALL BUSINESS WEEK TO HIGHLIGHT BEATTIE GOVERNMENT SUPPORT
In the lead up to Small Business Week, Wotif business guru Graeme Wood is encouraging small business owners to make the most of support services provided by the Beattie Government through 19 State Development Centres across Queensland.
The head of Australia's most popular accommodation website, Mr Wood said support provided by the Department of State Development, Trade and Innovation was helping Queensland companies like Wotif.com succeed and thrive nationally and internationally.
"This support is especially pertinent in today's competitive business climate," he said.
Small Business Minister Chris Cummins said a program of events for the government's inaugural Small Business Week, from Sunday 30th July to Saturday 5th August, was now available at www.smartsmallbusiness.qld.gov.au/sbweek.
"We'll be celebrating the achievements and contributions of small business to the Queensland economy and communities and offering a state wide program of workshops and seminars, as well as a full day conference promoting information and communications technology," he said.
"Small Business Week kicks off with the presentation of the new Small Business Photographic Awards at Girder at Teneriffe in Brisbane.
"Entries to the awards close on the 10th July, so I encourage Queenslanders to submit images celebrating the state's small businesses, for a chance to win the Open Award worth $10,000 or the Premier's Smart Small Business or the Minister's Outstanding Spirit in Small Business awards, both of which offer $1,500 worth of photographic equipment.
"The competition is open to professional and non-professional photographers and guidelines and nomination forms are available at www.smartsmallbusiness.qld.gov.au/photoawards."
Mr Cummins said the Growing Your Business - The ICT Factor one-day conference for small business operators would be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Monday 31st July.
"Growing Your Business - The ICT Factor will encourage small business operators to get the most out of information and communications technology," he said.
