Award-winning author to share amazing tale
Caloundra City Council's Beerwah Branch Library is hosting a free talk by acclaimed author Prue Mason next Wednesday.
Prue, whose book 'Camel Rider' won the Children's Book Award at the 2005 Queensland Premier's Literary Awards, will speak on the subject  'Surviving in Fantasy Land - Life as an Australian expat in Dubai'.
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the talk would be followed by afternoon tea and a chance to meet the author.
"This free session will provide a great opportunity to hear the story of an award-winning author's overseas experiences,'' Cr Aldous said.
Prue's work experience includes teaching English as a foreign language to young Arabs, being a regular columnist for a children's magazine, editing the biography of an Iranian lady who had worked for the Shah's government and creating children's activity books for charity.
Camel Rider, Prue's first young-adult novel based on her experiences living in the Middle East, was judged a Notable Book by the Children's Book Council of Australia and won a 2005 Queensland Premier's Literary Award.
Her talk is on Wednesday, August 2, at 2pm. It's a free event but bookings are required. Contact the Beerwah Branch Library on 5494 0221 for details.
