Caloundra City currently has a population of approximately 83,000. It is projected to increase to 165,885 by the year 2026.
A public meeting will be held at the Kawana Community Hall, Nanyima Street, Buddina on the 24th February between. 1 - 3 pm. The purpose of the meeting is to give the public enough information to support the Sunshine Coast Environment Council's motion which calls on the Caloundra City Council for a moratorium on gazettal of the Local Growth Management Strategy until such time as the community has an opportunity to vote on projected population totals.
Sunshine Coast Environment Council's Ian Christensen will MC the meeting introducing guest speakers, Vivien Griffen, enforcement of population cap, Larissa Waters, Environmental Lawyer (sustainability issues), Simon Baltais, President of Sustainable Population Australia SEQ Branch, and Helen Sava, President of the Sunshine Coast Branch of the Association of Independent Retirees.
We encourage all residents concerned about population growth to come along and listen to this excellent group of speakers, there will be ample opportunity for audience comment.
