Noosa Long Weekend Festival in Association with
Queensland Youth Orchestras proudly present
Twilight Orchestral Concert with QYO2
Queensland Youth Orchestra 2 (QYO2) was established in 1968, and is one of three symphony orchestras operated by Queensland Youth Orchestras (QYO).
Based in Brisbane, QYO currently has 470 musicians in eight orchestras and ensembles, and presents over 50 public concerts and recitals each year. In 2014, QYO2 has 90 members aged from 12 to 22.
QYO2’s major repertoire in 2014 includes Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 (Pathetique), Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 (Haffner), Bookshelf Suite by Brisbane composer Samuel Dickenson and arias by Mozart and Puccini.
QYO2 regularly tours to regional Queensland and in 2014; the orchestra is participating for the second time in the Noosa Long Weekend Festival following acclaimed concerts in the 2012 Festival.
QYO2 regularly thrills audiences with its high quality performances, often prompting concert patrons to review pre-conceived notions they have of a “youth orchestra” performance.
