Spence: Matt the Bat and Sam Riley to headline Queensland's biggest workout
Sport Minister Judy Spence, will join sporting legends Samantha Riley and Matthew Hayden, along with a host of Queensland Government MPs, at Queensland's Biggest Workout, at South Bank Piazza on 30 March 2008 from 9.30am until 11.30am.
Ms Spence today urged Brisbane families to come join their local members of parliament and sporting heroes, for the Queensland Government's launch of the your30.com.au website and phase two of the Government's $8.4 Million Eat Well Be Active campaign.
"This will be a great family day out, with activities available for people of all ages and abilities. We will be holding what is believed to be Queensland's biggest ever mass workout session with Samantha Riley and a host of other Queensland sporting stars," Ms Spence said.
"We're expecting up to 500 people to take part in the workout, which will be run by Fitness Queensland. The main session will include low impact aerobic exercises and stretching, with instructors tailoring the activities to suit all fitness levels.
"Legendary Australian batsman Matthew Hayden will also be skipping rope with the Heart Foundation team and giving away free skipping ropes with digital displays to everyone who joins in.
"The kids can join The Hooley Dooleys' very own Tickle the Doodat, Russell the Muscly Kangaroo and Captain Catastrophe for some fun song and dance activities promoting good health.
"The event will be hosted by radio personality and mum Robin Bailey. Other activities will include a rock climbing wall, a kicking and throwing cage, free circus skills lessons for the kids and fitness classes led by Fitness Queensland instructors.
"Our sporting greats and Olympic athletes from the Queensland Academy of Sport will be signing autographs and giving everyone tips on how easy it is to find 30 minutes of exercise every day.
"We want to get the message to Queenslanders that by making small changes in their daily lives they can achieve the recommended 30 minutes of exercise each day.
"What better way to launch the Government's key message 'find your 30' than to encourage people to join us for Queensland's Biggest Workout at South Bank?"
"There will also be plenty of giveaways, including free 'find your 30' t-shirts for participants, a free Eat Well Be Active showbag packed with goodies for the first 2000 people and prize giveaways.
"So come and join us for this fun-packed event at South Bank Piazza on Sunday March 30, and Find Your 30."
