A new exhibition ‘Colours of the Carnivale’ at Discover Eumundi Heritage and Visitor Centre from Saturday 11 June showcases the colour and creativity that is the Australian Body Art Carnivale.

The 2011 Photographic Awards in both the Photo Print and Digital categories will be announced and presented by Councillor Paul Tatton on Saturday 11 June at 11am.

Manager of Discover Eumundi Wendy Birrell says the exhibition features all the entries and winning images from this year’s Australian Body Art Carnivale photographic competition

“There’s no doubt that the event is a photographer’s dream, and it’s evident by the high calibre of entries in this year’s photographic competitions,” Wendy says.

“We’ll put together a comprehensive album of prints as well as a digital display of images from the whole Carnivale, including images of wearable art, pavement art, car bonnet art and the masked gallery walk and street parade – from this year and past years,” says Wendy.

“And aside from the impressive photographs on display, there are also examples of body paints and tools, along with some of the incredible wearable art garments and car bonnet art.

“A number of images from this year’s and past Body Art Carnivales will be for sale through the duration of the exhibition,” she says.

If you would like to attend the exhibition opening and photographic awards ceremony, please RSVP by phoning Discover Eumundi 5442 8762 or email Wendy at

The Australian Body Art Carnivale exhibition opens Saturday 11 June at 11am, and will be in the old police cells exhibition space at Discover Eumundi until Monday 8 August 2011.
