Revive Re-groups  August 18th, 2005

Noosa's innovative REVIVE art group is about to commence its final six-week course for 2005, inviting local unemployed people to attend the sessions from 9.;30 am to 3.00 pm on Thursdays from September 8th to October 13th.

Revive encourages aspiring artists to turn junk and recycled materials into art and sessions are free, thanks to the generosity of Brite Side Industries, the Noosa Community Training Centre, Noosa Council and voluntary facilitators Trish Macdonald and Libby Bowen, who first came up with the concept.

Revive courses are held at the Noosa Community Training Centre in Eenie Creek Road and intending participants should contact the Noosa Community Training Centre on 5449 7700 or call into their office at 26 Eenie Creek Road, Noosaville.

Absolute beginners are very welcome and this will be the fourth course, following three highly successful programmes where people with very little or no prior experience ended up exhibiting work of amazing quality.

Course No. 1 for 2005 was based on weaving, the second on sculpture, the third on painting and collage.  The final course for the year will be fairly open, but may include mask making, puppet making and if participants want can have a Christmas theme.

All the artwork from the four courses will be displayed at the Noosa Library from  October 24th and will be sold at an evening auction, with David Garwood in charge of the gavel, on Friday, November 4th.  Half of the proceeds from each sale will go to the artist and the other half towards continuation  of the course so it may be self funding.
