Location: Noosa Council Chambers,
Get your helmets ready…it is 'National Ride to Work' day next Wednesday October 17th. National Ride to Work Day is simply a day that we can all do something good for the environment. It will stimulate over 10,600 tonnes of Greenhouse Gas savings in the first three years - that's more than 2650 hot air balloons or 212,000,000 'black balloons' full of CO2!
TravelSmart Noosa Project Officer Alison Hamblin says, "Council staff have embraced the challenge to leave the cars at home and ride. Cycling gets the happy endorphins flowing and is great stress relief. It is not too late to participate - for more details on how you can register, go to the "Ride to Work" website at http://www.bv.com.au/join-us/126/".
Breakfast will be served at the Council Chambers for participating staff and residents from 7.30 am, courtesy of Bakers Delight Bakery. Cam Young, a radio presenter with ABC Coast FM, will lead a ride from Noosa Council Chambers at 8.30 am finishing at Kings Beach Surf Lifesaving Club, Caloundra. Division Four Councillors Russell Green and Frank Wilkie will be joining him for the ride, along with Division One Councillor Ray Kelly and several Noosa Council staff members. If you would like to join the convoy, bring your bike along to the Noosa Council Chambers for an 8.30 am start, or if you would like more information on the route to cheer them along, go to the ABC website at www.abc.net.au/sunshine
