A little bit about Rough Cuts Film Festival?.
The first Rough Cuts was held in October 2002 at Sunshine Beach SHS. 4 schools entered the event, it was a fabulous evening. We had some great judges (Tim Lennon; Noosa Film Society and Michael Butler; a local film-maker) and had approx 120 people turn up for our showing. The support was tremendous.
Since then, we have had a lot of support from local FTV teachers on the coast. We have held many meetings so far, our committee consists of :
Joe Morris, Helen Leyden, Philippa Derrick (all from Sunshine Beach SHS), Peter Hough (works freelance in advertising), Rosemary Blakeston (Nambour Christian Outreach College), Alistair Hume (Maroochydore High), Annita Hathaway & Hannah (Saltwater Studios).
We have 15 high schools on the coast committed to publicising our festival, and having works entered by their students. We are all so excited.
Rough Cuts Film Festival is a festival which gives an outlet for young filmmakers attending high schools on the Sunshine Coast. Students may enter in one of the five categories: Documentary, animation, promotion, Film Clip, Narrative. Film may be up to 10 minutes in duration. This year we have decided to hold Rough Cuts Film Festival at the Birch, Carrol and Coyle on November 16 (this has been booked).
Entry forms have been sent out to all high schools from Bundaberg through to Caloundra. All entries are due to SBSHS on VHS by October 18.
We have approached local businesses for sponsorship / prizes to help support our evening:
To be announced shortly
