The first Rough Cuts Film Festival was held in October 2002 at Sunshine Beach State High School in Sunshine Beach, Queensland.
It began as a simple idea to broadcast student work on a big screen. From there our thinking was: Hmm? why not invite parents?
The Festival in Brief...
Rough Cuts will be held Thursday Nov. 9th at Birch Carrol and Coyle in Maroochydore. All finalists should be at the theatre by 6:30 pm to ensure that you get a seat. The screening begins at 7:00.

There are several important new awards for Student Film makers at this year's Rough Cuts Film Festival.
There will be a winner chosen for each of the five categories, plus an overall winner.
There will be a winner chosen for a new category for post secondary/ TAFE students.
One of our new major sponsors, Community Solutions, will give a special award for a production that gives a clear message about a health or social issues (e.g. smoking, drugs, drink driving, domestic violence)
Another new sponsor, Caloundra City Youth Partnership, will present a special award for a documentary highlighting issues impacting Sunshine Coast young people.
Finally, another major new sponsor, Andrew Mountford Finance and Investment will present $1000 to one lucky finalist drawn on the night. (please see more details below)
So in all, there are 10 fantastic chances to be a winner at this year's Rough Cuts Film Festival.

Rough Cuts Film Festival will be held Nov 9 at Birch Carroll and Coyle Theatres in Maroochydore. Closing date for all entries (tapes/dvds) is Wednesday October 11. All entries must be postmarked by Oct 11 2006!
*The $1000 prize will be drawn on the night of the festival. The winner will given a timed investment account that matures in one year, at which time winner may close the account and receive the cash plus interest, or re-invest the amount with Andrew Mountford Finance and Investment.
