The artist Andy Weber spent seven years living and studying the iconographical art of Tibetan Buddhism under the guidance of accomplished masters in India and Nepal. His unique style of authentic images for visualization are highly respected not only by the growing number of Western Buddhists but also by Tibetan Lamas of all traditions, many of whom have commissioned his work. His thangka paintings ( Tibetan scroll paintings) can be seen in Buddhist centres and temples throughout the world including the Potala Palace in Lhasa and his images have become well known and popular through numerous publications.

Now with 25 years of experience he and his students offer their artwork and their services to the wider community. Manjushri and Yamantaka Tibetan Art Retreat with Andy Weber
Thursday 23rd October to Sunday 26th October

Thangka painting is a uniquely Tibetan tradition that involves mastery over many techniques, including drawing the deities and their surrounds according to formal rules laid down by generations of Tibetan masters. Andy Weber, a master in his own right, can show you how a thangka can be used with meditation to learn and emulate the qualities of a particular deity, or to visualise your own path towards enlightenment. As you familiarise yourself with the ancient techniques of drawing Manjushri and Yamantaka, you will be led into the symbolism behind each detail and discover both their provisional and definitive meanings, from the representation of wisdom through to the skilful means employed to tame and liberate all beings. Course Numbers strictly limited.

Chenrezig Institute is a centre for Buddhist study, meditation, retreat and practice. Established in 1974 Chenrezig Institute was the first Tibetan Buddhist centre in the Western World and remains one of the largest. Today, the Institute is home to two Tibetan Geshes (Lamas), a large community of ordained Sangha (nuns and monks), residents, volunteers, retreatants and guests. Apart from the formal study programmes, Chenrezig Institute is a peaceful, calm and relaxing place to spend a few hours, days or weeks. Stroll along the bush paths, wander in the formal garden, sip espresso in the café, have a vegetarian meal, drop in for a meditation class or teaching, or just sit and listen to life.
