Scene Set For Centenary Celebrations

The Glass House Mountains State School will celebrate its Centenary on April 28th and 29th. This picturesque school, nestled beneath the magnificent Glass House Mountains was established in 1906 with an enrolment of just eight students.  The passing of  time has seen the school grow and develop, however some aspects have not changed much at all.

With an enrolment now in excess of four hundred, the school remains picturesque and is still framed by the Glass House Mountains.  It is now part of an award winning coalition of schools, acclaimed for the excellence of its curriculum.  The school is also proud to offer students access to the latest technology and offers students a wealth of sporting and cultural activities.

At the same time the school retains the atmosphere and charm of a small country school in a caring and nurturing environment with strong links to the local community.

The celebrations of this significant milestone will reflect these characteristics of The school.  The Festivities will commence with a cocktail party on the Friday Evening. The Festival day on Saturday will include the raising of a time capsule, the unveiling of a commemorative wall and the burying of a new capsule.  Today's students will provide entertainment, past students will be invited to a roll call, and all students and visitors will participate in traditional schoolyard games.  Rides, food and bar facilities will be available throughout the day.

The Glass House Mountains State School proudly invites all current and past students, parents, staff and friends to join in the celebrations of one hundred fabulous years. Further details can be obtained by contacting the school on 5496 9205.

What lies beneath? These year 7 students cannot wait for the contents of the time capsule to be revealed.  Along with the rest of the school they have been busy preparing items to be buried in the new capsule on April 29th.
