S.C.R.U.F.F.F.Y SINEMA: Free family movie in the park
The first free outdoor movie screening for the Sunshine Coast Regional Underground Film Festival for Youth (S.C.R.U.F.F.F.Y) will kick off under the stars on Friday 24 April at Felicity Park, Caloundra.
S.C.R.U.F.F.F.Y, a local film and arts festival run by young people, is offering $1000's in prizes and showcase spots up for grabs, plus workshops and forums promising something for everyone.
In the lead up to festival screenings around the coast, S.C.R.U.F.F.F.Y is hosting free family 'SINEMA' screenings on Friday 24 April and Friday 22 May in Felicity Park, next to the Caloundra Library, Bulcock St, Caloundra.
The outdoor SINEMAs will feature the action-drama 'Lords of Dogtown' starring the late Heath Ledger on Friday 24 April and a yet to be announced film on Friday 22 May.
Movie goers can begin arriving from 6pm, with the film beginning at 6.30pm. They are encouraged to bring their own seating, and there will be a fundraising BBQ during the evening.
This year's S.C.R.U.F.F.F.Y festival has five competitions -- horror, animation, comedy, extreme shorts and short narrative.
Entries close soon, so budding film makers had better get cracking. Entries close on 28 May.
S.C.R.U.F.F.F.Y is a council initiative of the Youthlinx program. Since it began four years ago, it has grown into one of the region's most progressive youth arts festivals.
