Council will join with the Council on the Ageing (COTA) Queensland to recognise and celebrate the older population during Seniors Week (August 13-21).

It's On For Young and Old! is the 2016 theme for Seniors Week.

Seniors Week aims to:

  • improve community attitudes towards older people and ageing
  • facilitate community participation and activity by older people, including those from Indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • enhance community connections and inter-generational relationships.  

Council will launch Seniors Week by hosting a High Tea at Lake Kawana Community Centre. All senior residents from across the Sunshine Coast are invited to join the Mayor at the event.
Date: 17 August 2016 at 10.30 am.
Cost: $12.50  Bookings are essential.
