Sewing For Bundaberg Flood Victims

SEWING NEWS Sharing and furthering the art of Sewing in Australia. The Tewantin Neighbourhood Group (Guilded Lilies Sewing Group) of the Australian Sewing Guild meet on Saturday 30th March 2013 at the Masonic Hall, cnr Moorindil & Toolar Sts Tewantin Qld 4565 commencing at 9 am until 3.00 pm.

A request to sew for the Bundaberg Flood Victims was sent to all Groups by the Events Coordinator for Brisbane North Region, of the Australian Sewing Guild. Some suggestions of what to sew were: Carry bags for books, biros, toys, toiletries etc.

Bags Pillowcases Covered coat-hangers PJ's for all shapes, sizes and ages Kitchen towels etc. Simple cuddly toys - nothing too large as it has to be delivered. Some Pillowcases and bags have been cut out for the group to sew this month, we request any other items that would suitable to be brought along to the March Meeting.

All items will be taken to Industry Day that is held in Brisbane North on the 20th April by members who will be attending. During our lunchtime we are lucky enough to have Vivien Griffin to tell us of her experiences while she was in Cambodia teaching children and women how to use a treadle sewing machine.

Vivien is a retired Local Government Councillor What to bring: Lunch, Sewing Machine or Overlocker, (if you have any items to sew as listed above please bring them along) Morning Tea is provided. The group meet on the last Saturday of every month in a friendly environment and explore both basic dressmaking and decorative sewing techniques. A variety of workshop are organised throughout the year.
