Tired of writing grant applications to fund your group’s latest project? Ever wondered what venture capital is?

Now is your chance to find out when Mary Valley Inc brings Social Ventures Australia to Kandanga Bowls Club for a workshop on December 8.

SVA have supported the development of social enterprises in Queensland for the past five years and this workshop will cover:

 Understanding and running successful social enterprises: This provides you with a solid understanding of what a social enterprise is, the different kinds of social enterprises and the process for establishing a social enterprise designed to deliver employment outcomes for people.
 How to apply for support and investment from SVA: This section will cover how SVA can support social enterprises and the expression of interest process for the Queensland Social Enterprise Project, supported through Queensland Government: Department of Employment, Economic Development & Innovation (DEEDI) and Department of Communities.

With the increasing focus on social enterprise from government, the commercial sector and the non-profit sector, SVA has targeted the development of projects that support employment for people who have been excluded from the labour market, such as at-risk youths.

The organisation has worked with Food Connect Brisbane to sell affordable fresh food direct from the farmers, and other enterprises including the Nundah Community Enterprise Co-op and Ipswich Healthy Hampers Co-operative.

The Mary Valley workshop will be held at the Kandanga Bowls Club from 6–9pm. Numbers are limited and bookings are required. Phone 5484 3195 and leave a message outlining your interest to attend.

If you have a specific social enterprise business opportunity you wish to discuss, an SVA representative will be available after the workshop for individual discussions. Inquiries to Jason Keating on 5480 4428.

This event is sponsored by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations through the Local Employment Co-ordinator (Southern Wide Bay-Burnett) Flexible Funding Pool.
