On Sunday September 25th at 7pm, Sunshine Coast music lovers will be treated to an invigorating selection of new music for string quartet by contemporary Australian composers. Featured performers are the young, innovative Brisbane based 'Tuilipwood 4', recently founded by local 'cellist Louise King. "Playing string quartets is for me the most intimate and demanding form of making music and this program takes us on an iconic Australian journey performing works inspired by the Australian landscape and mix of cultures."
Composers featured in this concert are Ross Edwards, one of Australia's most respected composers, his distinctive sound-world fuses shapes and patterns from nature and reflects and celebrates Australia's cultural diversity. Sydney based Paul Stanhope, whose music is a personal response to contemporary culture and the iconic and well known Peter Sculthorpe with Elena Kats-Chernin, Betty Beath, Michael Knopf and premiering cutting edge electroacoustic compositions by Leah Barclay.
The new Live @ the Factory concert series will see The Cooroy Butter Factory developing into a major venue for live music and cross collaborative workshops in the arts with exciting local and international acts booked for future events.
Tickets are $20.00 ($15.00 Concessions) available from Design Works Galleria, 10 Maple Street Cooroy (5442 6677) or directly from the Butter Factory. There is limited seating and tickets are selling fast so get in quick to avoid missing the first of many Live @ the Factory showcase events!
