(Barleyshakes Trio) – October 20th
The Bohemian Bungalow Restaurant and Bar continues its run of the best in live music this Sunday October 20th with local, loveable, Celtic characters, the Barleyshakes.
The Barleyshakes are known for their passionate, uplifting approach to Irish Aussie folk. Their live shows are filled with funk, wild energy and humour. Their contemporary approach to Celtic music lead them to winning the Queensland Music Award for World music in 2011.
Dubliner Alan Kelly fronts the band on acoustic guitar, vocals, and his kangaroo skinned Irish drum (made locally by Beagan Irish Drums). Alan featured as a soloist on the Lord of the Rings soundtrack on the Irish drum.
On the fiddle and vocals is the beautiful Kristin Kelly, a Brisbane Conservatorium graduate and strings teacher at the Noosa Pengari Steiner School. Joining the Kelly’s is famed local multi-instrumentalist Steve Cook, who plays, mandolin, banjo and fiddle with the Shakes.
The Barleyshakes are always a joy to see perform and in trio format at the Bohemian Bungalow, this promises to be a fun afternoon of world class talent.
