Sunshine Coast Charity Golf Event in aid of Save the Children Golfers from all over the Sunshine Coast are being invited to take part in a charity golfing event at Horton Park, Maroochydore on Friday 16 November 2007. All net proceeds are going to Save the Children and earmarked for programmes in Queensland.
The event is the brainchild of Ethical Brand (Australia), which has underwritten the entire cost of staging the event. A spokesperson for the company, Mr Paul Cornwell said: "We love to play golf and Horton Park is a fabulous venue for us because it's very relaxed and friendly. Everyone is very welcome there. We don't take our golf too seriously at all and so we're encouraging hackers like us to round up a mate, or even a customer or two and spend a fun afternoon supporting a very worthy cause."
Save the Children fights for children's rights, delivering immediate and lasting improvements to children's lives worldwide. It recently launched Imagine, an Australia Program. "Imagine... an Australia where all children are safe from harm, receive a basic education and have access to quality health services. If all children had everything they needed to thrive and grow, chances are they would make a better world for future generations. Let's make it our goal to create this kind of Australia." Paul also said: "Player registration is from 11.00am with a shotgun start at noon. This means everyone is assigned a team, which tees off from a different starting hole somewhere on the course, so everyone starts and ends at more or less the same time.
We're hoping to attract 140 players on the day and turn this into an annual event." Paul added:" We have also created a very attractive sponsorship opportunity. Any organisation that fields a team of four receives a hole sponsors package, free of charge, which means they will be able to post a company banner on one of the holes; add their promotional gear to the prize pool and also receive special recognition during prize-giving at 5.00pm."
