32 plays over 4 days at festival of theatre!

This year's Sunshine Coast Theatre Festival is set to be a feast of entertainment, with 32 plays being presented over the four days of the festival which attracts entrants from all over the state.

All one-act plays, the festival offers short, sharp, great value entertainment with a Festival Pass priced at just $25, giving you access to all sessions.  Also available is a $10.00 Session Pass, with an average of 4 plays per session. That is less than $1 per play.

Now in it's 26th year, the festival opens on Thursday 18th August at the Buderim War Memorial Hall, on the corner of Main and Gloucester Roads in Buderim, and runs from Thursday evening through to Sunday evening, show-casing some of the regions finest acting talent, under the watchful eye of adjudicator Kurt Lerps.

The Sunshine Coast Theatre Festival is a fabulous forum for actors and directors to push the boundaries of theatre, or experiment with new scripts and methods of acting. The constructive feedback of an adjudicator and audience helps them to hone their skills.

With substantial prize-money on offer, the festival has gained a reputation for being of a particularly high standard. Presented by the Sunshine Coast Theatre Alliance, the event is sponsored by the Maroochy Shire Council and the Maroochy Tourism Industry Advisory Board.

I would encourage the public to come along at any time over the weekend and take in a few plays.

"That's the beauty of the Festival Pass" says festival coordinator Jacqui Mata Luque. "You can come and go all weekend and see as many plays as you like for just $25.00".

The winning plays will be announced and trophies presented at the conclusion of the programme on Sunday afternoon.

For session times and full programme details, log on to the SC Theatre Alliance website or call Jacqui on 5445 5464 to have a programme posted to you.

Tickets are available at the door.
