'Surviving Your Adolescents' is a new course commencing Tuesday 10th
March and continues every Tuesday for four weeks. Lifeline Sunshine
Coast is currently working hard at providing the community with
relevant, useful programs and courses like this one, which will help
those striving to have a better life.
The course is aimed at parents and caregivers of over 12's who would like to know more about understanding adolescence and understanding their job as a parent of a teenager.
'Surviving Your Adolescents' will give confidence in parenting and a better understanding of the dynamics with their adolescents to those who attend. Additionally, the course covers asking the question "Is it serious?" which highlights what is worth reacting to and what is not, and also how to engage in difficult conversations with teens more successfully and smoothly.
Parents and carers will have the opportunity to practise their skills, be encouraged by experienced facilitators, swap ideas, gain support and meet other parents. The course uses a Power-point presentation and other audio-visual materials for ease in learning.
Designed by nationally recognised Parentshop Pty. Ltd, 'Surviving Your Adolescents' is being lead by qualified counsellors. The trainers are Beth Cohen, M.S.W. and Loma Berger Family Counsellor. Both women have over twenty years of experience each in working with parents, children, and families and in running parenting programs.
Parents and caregivers who would like to know more should register their interest for the classes by the 4th March. The cost incurred by attendees is a gold coin donation for each session and participants are expected to attend each of the four sessions.
For maximum benefit to all attending, Lifeline asks that parents please arrange their own childcare. This program is sponsored by the Parent Support Program of Lifeline which is funded by the Department of Communities.
'Surviving Your Adolescents' begins Tuesday 10th March 2009 at Lifeline, Maroochydore at 37 Duporth Avenue and continues on 17th March, 24th March, and 31st March. The meetings will run from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and a light supper will be provided at each session. For more information or to register please phone 5443 5366.
