Balance 4 - 20 February 2005
Exhibition Opening Friday 4th February 2005 6pm
Sybille Werner's Balance, an exhibition of dynamic, vibrant abstracts
Abstract painting is not an easy subject to talk about. It is however an incredible journey for the artist to undertake. What do they explore? - Colour, shape, line, the edges of the work, the middle etc. Does the artist explore feelings or seek some kind of perfection. If the aim is to paint more than large decorative contemporary wall paintings how serious does the work become? Sibylle Werner is an emotionally driven artist but also one seeking perfection but knowing it can never be achieved. Each canvas is a challenge to paint the unknowable. Her works are like the landscape from above, not surprising given that she flies a lot in her dreams. There is always a battle between unformed space and the structural balance of light and space.
Surrounded by art from an early age and with her background as a stills photographer - travelling to countries like Spain, Italy, Germany and France - Sibylle, now a Noosa resident, has put together an exhibition with a strong European influence.
Sibylle's exhibition is a culmination of 12 months work consisting of spectacular, vibrant and exciting contemporary abstract works.
Opening 6pm Friday February 4th.
Sibylle will be a special guest of The Gallery FAMILY DAY on Sunday February 13th and will give a Floor Talk at 11 am followed by a Hands-On painting activity with all visitors invited to participate.
