Tai Chi in the park is back
Maroochy Council is pleased to announce that the popular 'Tai Chi in the park' program is back.
Tai Chi is available at six parks across the shire on most days of the week. The ten week program, sponsored by Maroochy Council, started today and runs for an hour from 6.00am. You can join any time. Sessions cost just $2 per session
Everyone can enjoy the benefits of Tai Chi at these parks:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Cotton Tree Park (next to the War Memorial)
Tickle Park Coolum (behind the skate bowl)
Chancellor Park (park on Lakehead Drive, opposite Hibiscus & Oasis Retirement Villages)
Eumundi (near amphitheatre)
Quota Park Nambour (next to the War Memorial)
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
Montville (Russel Family Park)
The Tai Chi instructor is Anthony Britten of Osan Martial Arts, who will be teaching the slow, soft, graceful motions of Chi Gung.
Chi Gung is based on simple physical motions concentrating on internal breathing exercises and meditation techniques.
You should wear loose, comfortable clothing and flat-soled shoes, or just go bare foot and feel the grass between your toes..
Mayor Joe Natoli said creating the opportunity to practice Tai Chi in one of our beautiful Maroochy parks will benefit the community's health, cultural wealth, and networks and raise awareness of Tai Chi and its benefits.
