Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club
Tasqua Cellars Easter All Boats Regatta
The Tasqua Cellars Easter All Boats Regatta scheduled for the 25 - 27 March promises to be a major event. Hosted by the Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club in the Noosa Shire, this event will feature two catamaran state titles as well as a sizable fleet of mixed sailing classes. The Laser and Sharpie classes will be well represented, honing their skills for their titles in the following months. The A Class and Taipan catamaran State Titles will see a keenly fought tussle between competitors to claim their individual titles and the accolades that follow. To compliment the regatta, the annual 'Women on Water' trophy will be decided over the three days of racing.
To cater for the fleet of boats that are expected to compete, there will be two separate sailing courses set on the Lake, one a specialist windward/leeward catamaran course and the other a standard triangular course. A six-race programme over the three days is planned with Scratch and Handicap scoring promising to give each competitor a chance at a prize.
The annual 'Women on Water' trophy is open to any female skipper and/or crew who individually or as a crew, score the least points under the Low Point Scoring System. Club members, Jane Langley and Nadia Hughes as skipper and crew, took the trophy last year and will be defending their title this year in Jane's Manly Graduate 'Cuba Libra'.
