The 2005 Coolum Kite Festival promises to be another great event.
This years event will be held at Stumers Creek on Sunday 18 September.
Over 100 kite fliers from around Australia and overseas will be attending in what promises to another great day on the beach with plenty of spectular fun and festiuvities on the ground and in the sky.
A sky filled with colourful kites spinning, swooping, flying higher and higher, great air, octopuses, legs, insects, a crayfish, a dogs collar, a giant mermaid…. You imagine something, these people can make it and fly it!
The display will include some of the largest kites in the Southern Hemisphere.
It is not surprising that the Coolum Kite Festival is gaining reputation as one of Australia's favourite Kite Festivals. So don't miss it, it is on your doorstep and it is free!

ROAD CLOSURE, KITE FESTIVAL, DAVID LOW WAY, COOLUM - The David Low Way will be closed from Hewitt Street to Springfield Avenue, Coolum from 9.30am to 4pm on Sunday 18th September, 2005. Through traffic please use the Sunshine Motorway. Detour via Springfield Avenue.

Transport, road closure and parking information - 17 & 18 September
With the Coolum Kite Festival presented by IGA almost upon us, now is the time to consider travel and parking options.
David Low Way will be closed from Hewitt St to Springfield Avenue from 9.30am to 4.00pm on Sunday 18th September. Through traffic should use the Sunshine Motorway (detour via Springfield Avenue).
Car parking will be available at Morgan Park and at the Peregian Sports Complex. A free regular shuttle bus will be operational throughout both days of the Festival to pick up patrons at each car park.
Of course plain old walking is the most enjoyable way of getting there - Stumer's Creek is just a short stroll up the beach from the Coolum CBD.
Food vendors will be operational during both Festival days, so there'll be lots of tasty options to choose from (including a guest appearance from Ronald McDonald at 12pm). Of course you can always bring a picnic basket to really make a day of it!
Please remember to throw any rubbish in the bins provided to help keep the Sunshine Coast beautiful.
Finally, patrons are encouraged to follow all the usual safety tips - swim between the flags, take particular care when walking on roads to the Festival (particularly at night) and supervise children at all times.
