Thursday 9 March 2006 Local groups invited to participate in garden expo
Local groups with an interest in gardening and the environment have the opportunity to showcase their activites at an upcoming gardening expo hosted by the Beerwah Library.
Caloundra City Acting Mayor and divisional councillor Anna Grosskreutz said the Beerwah Gardening Expo, to be held in May, will feature special guest Ross McKinnon and showcase gardening and related information.
"This is a great opportunity for gardening and environment clubs to promote themselves while offering expo visitors a myriad of information about local conditions, handy gardening tips and much more," Cr Grosskreutz said.
Cr Grosskreutz said the expo is part of Caloundra City Libraries' innovative SeaChange program which looks at the impact on the individual and the community of the sea change phenomenon through a series of workshops and special events.
"Not only will the expo offer great exposure for local groups, it also offers new residents an opportunity to network and build relationships with their local community.
The Beerwah Gardening Expo will be held at the Beerwah Hall on Friday 19 May from 9.30am to 1pm. There is no cost to participate in the event, with free entry on the day. Every visitor will also receive a free tree, courtesy of Cr Grosskreutz and Council's nursery.
Local groups interested in participating in the event should contact Moira Maclachlan at Beerwah Library on 5494 0221.
