Hope and Inspiration comes to Queensland

After following their incredible story on TV a few years ago, Brisbane and the Gold Coast will get their first chance to see Dr. Jonathon Welch AM, and The Choir of Hard Knocks, live in concert in Brisbane and the Gold Coast from 9th – 12th October. Tickets for all shows are on sale on 136 246 or

This year the Choir of Hard Knocks, known now as The Choir of Hope and Inspiration, celebrate their 5th year since winning audiences over in the heartfelt award winning television series.

Founding Musical Director Jonathon Welch said the Choir members have pushed and pushed him to bring them to Queensland so they can perform for their multitude of fans.

“This is the Choir’s first time performing in Queensland, it’s their reward for persistence and dedication besides, there’s no saying no to this group,” said Jonathon.

“After 250 or more concerts over the past five years since the Choir’s inception all the choir members still love to sing and see the audiences’ response.

“About 55 choir members are on their way to perform and audiences will also have the chance to meet them after the show in the foyer.

“So Queenslanders will get to see, hear and meet their favourite characters from the award winning TV documentary, including Simon, Sheree and Clarko, who are still with the Choir five years on.

“We’ve found audiences themselves find a concert experience uplifting, inspiring, funny, touching, emotional, full of warmth and joy.

“There’s a shared feeling of unity and community amongst an audience that’s also shared onstage with the Choir members.

“There are many “wow” moments in every concert, particularly as the Choir members chat and talk of their own personal journeys.

“People are inspired by the Choir members’ stories of courage and resilience and are astonished by the talent and musical standard that the Choir has achieved.”

Being a member of the Choir has helped many to grow in confidence and self esteem and move on to study or work.

Most importantly the Choir has become a true “modern family” for many of them giving them stability, friendship, love and support where they have had no one else.

Each concert is 90 minutes duration, no interval.
