Macbeth opened on 30 March and is proving to be one of the most dramatic and memorable theatrical experiences of 2006.

For lovers of Shakespeare, this is a production that brings out all the drama, richness of language and sheer creative brilliance of this play.   At the same time Simon Denver has achieved his aim of making Macbeth a thrilling theatrical experience for people who have never read or seen the play before.

Shakespeare was like the Stephen Spielberg of his day in his ability to thrill crowds and take them on a fantastic imaginative journey.  This production taps into that popular appeal of Shakespeare.

"Macbeth is a cracker of a play with all the ingredients for spine-tingling entertainment - violence, corruption, war, betrayal, prophecy, and Mother Nature's revenge," says Simon.

"The language of Shakespeare is a problem to a lot of people, but once delivered correctly, it's easy to understand."

Brett Klease gives an outstanding performance as Macbeth in this production.  He plays the role with a dynamic physicality and a commanding stage presence. Brett's excellent diction and phrasing make for a ready understanding of Shakespeare's rich text and his acting and gestures enables you to empathise with everything he feels.

Add in brilliant lighting and sound effects and stunning choreography of the witches' scenes and you have a Macbeth that is must see for everyone and real eye opener for school students wanting a way in to understanding and enjoying Shakespeare.
