The last time THE SPIRIT OF SCOTLAND played it's series of concerts in 2004, among the reviews from critics were headlines such as....."At last, back to real music!!" That is what this show is all about: excellent music and songs from the "Auld Country" plus light comedy for a family audience.

The Spirit of Scotland is on Friday 11th March at the Nambour Civic Centre and features three of the most popular Scottish entertainers of today: Australia's favourite Scot, Billy Raymond; maestro of the Scottish, accordion Arthur Spink and Scotland's nightingale of song, the brilliant soprano Jennifer Shaw.

This trio performed together for 12 years prior to Billy Raymond moving into Theatre Management in North Queensland, however, both Arthur and Jennifer continued to work together in an act known as "Heather Mixture". On special occasions, Billy comes out of "retirement" to appear on stage, radio or television, all of which he finds irresistible. As he has always said, "it's difficult to give up and forget a career as an entertainer which has spanned over four decades". Taking pride of place in his home, Billy has four gold records for his best selling albums and television awards from the U.K including the Scottish Television Personality of the Year and a coveted Penguin Award from the Television Society of Australia.

Arthur Spink was born in Dundee, Scotland. He is recognised as one of the greatest exponents of Scottish accordion music having played New York's Carnegie Hall five times and has recorded 29 albums. Jennifer Shaw has played Carnegie Hall, but "only" twice!! First appearance was with Scottish comedian-singer Andy Stewart and on her second visit she co-starred with the Scottish Tenor, Kenneth McKellar.

Billy from Glasgow, Arthur from Dundee and Jennifer from Aberdeen were the stars of the stage spectacular "Scotland the Brave" which was nominated for a "Mo" Award and played the top venues and concert halls in Australia including the Sydney Opera House and the Festival Theatre in Adelaide.

The Spirit of Scotland will also include special guests, Pipe Major Robert Pearce O.A.M, and the delightful White Heather Dancers, Megan Winn and Amy Rich. Robbie Pearce has been the N.S.W State Champion Piper an incredible fourteen times and has appeared in concerts and at Highland gatherings around the world. Megan and Amy have won every possible accolade in Highland dancing throughout the country
