The Sunshine Coast Show

Subject: The Feature attraction at this year's Sunshine Coast Show from June 15th to 17th 2006
Date:   Tuesday 14th February 2006

The 2006 Sunshine Show will pay tribute to the Outback in the Arena Spectacular "SALUTE TO THE OUTBACK" that will be performed each night of the show at 7pm. Following on from last year's successful presentation of the "SUNSHINE COAST 100TH SHOW" Arena Spectacular that featured over 400 local performers the Sunshine Coast Show Society has again engaged Ozworks Entertainment creative Mark Eady to do it all again in 2006.

"We're very excited about the positive response to last year's show and the tremendous amount of interest and support for the Sunshine Coast Show in 2006. The Spectacular was very well received last year and we're planning an even bigger and better main event this year with "SALUTE TO THE OUTBACK" said Show Society President Jenny McKay.
The Outback of Australia is known by people all over the world. People from all nationalities have a concept of the Australian Outback whether it's what they read in magazines, see in a Paul Hogan film or watch on TV in a Survivor Series. The Outback of Australia is celebrated in our songs, poetry and reflected in our art. It's hot, dry, colorful and filled with amazing wonders. The Australian Outback is also the backdrop of some of our most famous stories and the home of some of Australia's most interesting people.
"As 2006 is the official Year of the Outback I felt it was a powerful theme to explore as the feature entertainment attraction at the Sunshine Coast Show. We will acknowledge the Outback not only as the heart of our Nation but as our cultural birthplace and acknowledge the men, women and children who live there and make it what it is today" says creative producer Mark Eady

It is expected that close to 500 local performers including dancers (indigenous and contempory), singers, horse riders, stockmen and women, whip crackers, bush poets, actors, bike riders and more will appear in the Spectacular in what will be 60 minutes family show. Concert sound will be the foundation of the show and the arena lights will be switched off in place of theatre lighting. Live cameras will beam the action onto the Big Screen at the back of the permanent set on the Arena as the show unfolds. AUDITIONS INFORMATION RELEASED NEXT WEEK!

SALUTE TO THE OUTBACK will be performed in the main arena each night of the Sunshine Coast Show from June 15th to 17th 2006. Performances will begin at 7pm.
