13th July 2006 PETE MURRAY AND LIOR PERFORMING AT 2006 TOYOTA COUNTRY MUSIC MUSTER
This year the Toyota National Country Music Muster is making bit of a change from the traditional, adding big names to the folk/contemporary music contingent. The likes of Pete Murray and Lior will grace the stage at the Sunday Under the Big Top concert.
The special concert on Sunday in the Crow Bar is an event not to be missed. The Muster is evolving, and so are the artists and patrons it attracts. Artists such as Pete Murray and Lior, assist with this evolution, providing the opportunity to attract a broader range of people to come and celebrate the Silver Anniversary of the biggest music festival of its kind.
The Sunday Under the Big Top concert is a great day of entertainment leading up to the Sunday night finale of the six-day music spectacular.
The Sunday entertainment is a host of old favourites and new faces in a smorgasbord of talent. The 'Back to Thornside' concert hosted by the Webb Brothers will see many old names back for the 25-year celebration. Including Bruce McCumstie, Cash Backman and Chad Morgan.
But the line up doesn't end there, with about 100 performers in just one day! Shannon Noll, Ash Grunwell, Lior, The Audreys, Sara Storer, Graeme Connors, Bill Chambers, The Flood, James Blundell and even Wickety Wak will re-group and perform on the Main Stage.
Originally from Brisbane, singer songwriter Pete Murray didn't pick up a guitar until he was 22. Quickly realizing his musical talents, Pete released his debut album 'Feeler' in 2003. 'Feeler' quickly went to number 1, topping 450,000 sales and going six-times platinum.
Now with the release of his second album 'See the Sun', Pete Murray and his band the Stonemasons have been traveling around the country and the UK spreading their beautiful sound. Two years ago, Pete Murray was an unknown artist, but now the household name and is performing for the first time at this year's the Toyota Country Music Muster.
Pete's voice and the heart he puts into every song is an indication of the dedication he and the Stonemasons devote to creating an outstanding performance time after time. Pete's voice is smooth, honest and humble and appreciated by all.
His second release on the 'See the Sun' album, 'Opportunity' has a secret agenda, for every copy sold, 50 cents is donated to the Salvation Army.
Lior's sound is described as a rootsy mix of styles that hark back to the lyric and melody. The Sydney singer songwriter entwines his Middle Eastern heritage in a beautiful sound, drawing attention to the soul and the truth that comes out with every word he sings.
'Autumn Flow' is Lior's debut album, released in 2005. Lior is one of few Australian artists whose debut album went GOLD. His critically acclaimed album was nominated for 'Australian Album of the Year' by Triple J JAWARDS and nominated for 3 Aria Awards in late 2005. The album was one of the year's most successful independent releases and two of his singles 'This Old Love' and 'Daniel' appear on the Ministry of Sound Chillout Sessions releases.
