It’s dark … and they’re wearing sunglasses making Soul Men the ultimate show for any Blues Brothers fan. This 12-piece band has been travelling all over Australian since 2009 performing faithful reproductions of the smash hit movie.
Soul Men’s high-energy performance envelops the entire room and swallows the audience whole. Twelve of the finest musicians in Queensland decided to cater to the demand for Soul Rhythm and Blues. Quoting a famous line from the movie, these performers are on a mission from God and there’s nothing that can stop them.
The four-piece rhythm section chug along with an infectious groove, add two trumpets, two saxophones, a trombone and the resulting sound that the band makes is phenomenal and irresistible. When someone takes a solo the music simply soars. With choreographed dancing, scripted jokes, and professional acting, you have a complete Blues Brothers entertainment package.
When Soul Men comes on stage your feet will start tapping, your fingers will start clicking, and your body will start swaying. There’s no way to fight this contagious soul extravaganza and no one really wants too. The band is so talented in their reproductions that they’ve had to add several more numbers just to respond to the encores they’ve received.
If you, like Illinios’ Law Enforcement Representatives, want to catch the Soul Men, head to the Tewantin Noosa RSL on Thursday 23 April at 8pm in the South Bar. Entry is free.
