26 May 2005 Tooway Lake working bee
Rehabilitation is on the agenda at Tooway Lake this month with a tree planting working bee on Sunday June 12.
The tree planting is the next stage in the Tooway Catchment Care Group's plans to rehabilitate the James Street Creek.
The creek carries stormwater from nearby homes and roads directly into Tooway Lake. Pollutants such as soil and fertilisers are often in the stormwater, and can reduce the quality of water and the overall health of the lake.
It is hoped replanting the creek with native vegetation will help filter the pollutants before they reach the lake.
The tree planting will be held at James St Reserve via MacDonald St, Dicky Beach at 9am on June 12. For more information, contact Caloundra City Council's Customer Service Centre on 5420 8200.
A free sausage sizzle will be provided for participants.
