To most Australians, the Vietnam War has a rock and roll soundtrack, a real life soundtrack. Almost every novel, movie, memoir or oral history of the war by a veteran mentions the music that the author listened to in Vietnam. All the songs of the '60s were part of the life in a combat zone. Troops listened to Sony radios, Akai stereos and Teac tape decks and new troops arrived weekly with the latest records from the states.
Rock band, Tour of Duty embark on a journey deep into the heart of one of the most influential, controversial & turbulent decades ever via the 60’s era music revolution. Events between 1962 and 1975 rocked the world, as we know it with the assassination of a president, an unpopular war, social & political turmoil with the civil women’s rights movements and the Cold War - all heralding great change of things to come. The music of that era shaped it, revealing a phenomenon that gave a voice to a new generation, capturing their hearts and minds forever and leaving us with a lasting representation of their creative legacy.
Tour of Duty are a band of brothers - four seasoned, professional musicians who deliver a tribute to the diverse musical revolution of the 60’s to mid 70’s era as authentically as possible, performing some of the most famous songs ever recorded by the greatest artists or the era both international & Australian.
Fully recreating on stage the atmosphere of the war torn jungle, Tour of Duty mesmerizes the audience with an amazing stage set, stunning costumes, authentic music, humour & an electrifying sound and light show.
Tour of Duty offers a broad cross section of artists and number one hits including the haunting voice of Janice Joplin, the swamp rock of Creedence Clearwater Revival, the sweet soul sounds of Marvin Gaye & Wilson Pickett, the distinctive guitar space blues rock of Jimi Hendrix, the psychedelic rock of Santana, early Status Quo, the poetic Jim Morrison, the thoughtful Bob Dylan, and the legendary Beatles, Stones, Animals and Cream.
Tour of Duty will be performing at the Tewantin Noosa RSL from 8.00pm on Saturday 11th May in the South Bar.
