The Sunshine Coast is a vital region for sports development and performance.

Quad Park Precinct is positioned to become the undisputable sporting, recreation and entertainment centre of the Sunshine Coast. Indeed, it promises to be the premier regional sports facility in Australia!

Quad Park is the precinct that encompasses the Quad Park Sports fields, Kawana Aquatic Centre, Lake Kawana, Quad Park Sports Fields West, and East Bank.

Quad Park is the largest and most central area for Sports on the Sunshine Coast. Located on the Nicklin Way at Kawana.

Already playing a vital role within the local community, the Quad Park precinct is home to a number of sporting teams including Kawana Rugby Union, Kawana Rugby League, Kawana Soccer, and the Kawana Touch Association.

The centre has also played host to numerous events. These have ranged from productions such as 'Grease' and 'Cats', circuses and home shows, to its important role as a sports training base. In this capacity, Quad Park was proud to be home to the gold medal-winning Women's water polo team of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Lake Kawana is fast becoming a popular destination for training purposes from organizations such as Qld Canoeing, SLSQ, and World Model Boats Club.

Friday February 25th marks the date for a new and extremely exciting project to commence on the Sunshine Coast.

The Honourable Chris Cummins MP Minister for Emergency Services, along with Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous and Chairman of the Quad Park Corporation Mr Tony Long will officially "Turn the Sod"  for construction to begin on this magnificent new  sporting facility.

Guests from local government, sporting bodies, entertainment and leisure industries will join us to be a part of this moment.

The State Government recognises the important of establishing a world-class sports stadium in this area.

It has, through the Department of Local Government and Planning Regional Centres Fund, given $2 million towards its development.

It also provided another $1.71 million towards the East Bank Community and Arts Centre at Lake Kawana, and the Government's involvement also extended to infrastructure.

The stadium will add to the Sunshine Coast's sporting and tourism profile and will be a big drawcard  for international sporting events, entertainment and recreation.

It will be great to finally have a venue here that seats 10,000 that has all the features of other first-class stadiums throughout the country, and being able to attract elite sporting events to the Sunshine Coast will provide a great financial boost to the region.
