Renowned author Tina Shaw will share tips for starting a small business with local young parents later this month (27 June, 2008).
Tina is the publisher of The Single Parent Bible and author of a new book, How to Start a Business with Less than $100. A solo parent herself, she provides practical advice and motivation to encourage young parents to consider business options that they can get off the ground while still caring for a young child.
She will attend the United Synergies Younger Parents program to share her business success story, share tips on how to transform passion into dollars, motivate and ignite creativity and create links into the business world.
The parents from the YPP are a dedicated group of young people with creative ideas how to get ahead in life. It is sometimes that they (like the rest of us) need assistance to get to the next step. In this instance, it is the step into the business world that these parents are aiming to learn about in this workshop.
Starting a business is not easy and most times you need a lot of money, but Tina shows that that this not the case and believes it can be done cheaply. She also recognises that it is not the only way to go and acknowledges this method may not suit everyone who is wishing to start a business.
The United Synergies Younger Parents group are looking forward to the presentation with several already considering their own business opportunities.
Young parent Brianna Luske has started her own cake business, after attending a cake making and decorating course in Brisbane earlier this year. She now regularly makes cakes for special occasions as word spreads of her talent.
Recognising the huge market that exists within the single parent community, Tina's advice has turned into a lucrative career as she continues to champion the solo parent cause and encourage others to create success from their own personal situation.
The workshop will be held on Friday, 27 June from 10.30am to 11.30am at the Noosa Leisure Centre, Wallace Park.
United Synergies is a not-for-profit organisation committed to making a difference to the lives of others. It provides services to families, in particular young people, to assist them in achieving their full potential.
