3 authors/illustrators, 8 libraries: 1 very big day

Sunshine Coast Libraries in partnership with Immanuel Lutheran College, the University of the Sunshine Coast, and Voices on the Coast Youth Literature Festival, are proud to present Voices @ Your Library.

For one day, Wednesday 8 June, a selection of authors and illustrators who appeared at the Voices on the Coast festival, will conduct free sessions at eight Sunshine Coast Libraries for students, parents and interested community members.

Voices on the Coast coordinator, Kelly Dunham said the Voices on the Coast festival attracts over 4500 students and adults to a range of events where leading Australian authors, illustrators and performers share their knowledge and aspirations with interested readers and writers.

“The almost celebrity-like interaction between audience members and presenters reinforces that love of literature and the desire to never give up on your goals as a writer, regardless of who you are or where you live,” she said.

“By partnering with Sunshine Coast Council and hosting free sessions at Sunshine Coast Libraries, we are giving students, families and aspiring authors/illustrators another opportunity and alternate venues to attend sessions.”

Authors and illustrators appearing in Sunshine Coast Libraries this year are:

Caroline Magerl - A very talented artist, who brings the characters to life through paint or cartoon. Her illustrations have won many awards and are featured in titles by Libby Hathorn and Alan Baillie.

Oliver Phommavanh - Oliver’s journey started as a stand up comedian and a school teacher. He is now transferring that energy and fun to children's books.

Tristan Bancks - Tristan writes both Junior and Young Adult Fiction including the Mac Slater: Coolhunter series. He is currently saving up for a ticket to space and loves telling inspiring, fast-moving stories for young people.
