A thrilling, extraordinarily beautiful and moving experience awaits concert goers on 20 May. Noosa Chorale and Noosa Sinfonia will present The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins and the Messa di Gloria by Puccini.
Puccini's Messa di Gloria (Glorious Mass) will start the program and it lives up to its name with truly glorious music. It is very Puccini, very operatic and very beautiful.
Next comes Karl Jenkins The Armed Man (A mass for peace). It is the most performed work by a living composer with over 1,000 performances worldwide. This is the first opportunity for Sunshine Coast audiences to experience this amazing work. It will leave audiences breathless with wonder as it did when it was performed at The Lincoln Centre New York at the 10th anniversary concert of the 24/7 terrorist attack.
It sets sacred and secular texts including Tennyson, Kipling, Malory, Dryden, Swift, The Koran and the Hindu Mahàbharàta within the framework of the Christian Mass.
It is no ordinary piece of music - it is an emotional journey exploring the horrors of war and the desire for peace. The music is vibrant, exciting, dramatic and poignant.

Orchestra of the Welsh National Opera, and four Welsh choirs, conducted by Jenkins himself on the occasion of his 60th birthday in February 2004 in St David's Hall Cardiff
A major innovation for this concert will be images projected on a screen behind the choir which will highlight and enhance the music.
The orchestra of over 50 musicians will have an exceptionally large percussion section. The choir of nearly 90 will be joined by tenor Andrew Pryor whose voice resembles Pavarotti. Andrew was one of the Ten Tenors and then The Tenorissimo. The bass will be Sam Piper.
The conductor will be Adrian King who time after time demonstrated his ability to get superb performances from the orchestra and singers.
