Target Audience:  Women in small business living and working on the Sunshine Coast & if possible the Brisbane region. 

The Small Business sector is the driving force behind the diversification of the Queensland economy.  There are currently more than 217,000 small businesses operating through the state.  Together they make up 96.5% of all businesses. 

Statistics show that a large percentage of women work with a male partner in a small business or manage their own business. Women in business wether small or other, often struggle to balance their life and lifestyle.  This includes self development, business management, community involvement and family.  Adding to these women and their families are looking for that change so they can enjoy their life and family instead of devoting their time to work and study. The following information is provided by State Development "Relocate or invest in one of the fastest growing regions in Australia. As more and more Australians choose to make lifestyle a clear priority in balancing their working and family lives, the natural attractions of the Sunshine Coast are driving a sizeable influx of population. Living on the Sunshine Coast Blessed by both climate and location, the Sunshine Coast is one of the world's great places to live.

People also enjoy working in a place with a sense of community and the social infrastructure of a cosmopolitan city. One of the most scenically beautiful and varied regions, the Sunshine Coast is peaceful, relaxing and natural. It's also sophisticated, go-ahead and exciting. White surf beaches stretch for about sixty-five kilometres, broken only by an occasional headland or the clear water of a river estuary. There are great resorts with award winning golf courses, upscale shopping centres and specialty boutiques, exceptional restaurants, alfresco cafes and coffee shops. In the hinterland, among the pineapple and sugar cane farms, are country hamlets where old pubs overlook green valleys. Painters, potters and other artisans are drawn here by the tranquillity and the easy pace."

The conference "Self Leadership in Today's Lifestyle" "Practical Leadership Skills for Women in Business in Queensland" has been developed to provide information and motivation to the many women running a small business on the Sunshine Coast and surrounding regions. 

The range of speakers include motivation, business information, self growth and development and some fun thrown in so our delegates go away from the conference feeling enlightened. Speakers have been confirmed to date.  I have spoken to a number of speakers and am awaiting confirmation of costs and availability.  It is proposed to keep costs down to:

• Ensure affordability for the delegates
• Provide an enlightening environment
• Ensure every delegate takes something of value away with them to assist them in their business
• Create an awareness and overcome some of their issues relating to business
• Build confidence
• Introduce new business networks
• Introduce delegates to Quest Caloundra

At the same time providing high profile speakers who delegates will want to hear. All speakers will be provided with complimentary one nights accommodation. Exhibition It is proposed to include an exhibition area at the conference.  This exhibition is to include business equipment etc but more importantly exhibition space to pamper these hard working ladies.

Margaret Gill ("Mz Margz") is a proven and effective Personal Mentor and Muse to the Creative and Wellness Sectors. Margz also works with women in transition, especially those going through a mid life crisis, sea change or leap to corporate refugee status. She brings a unique blend of 15 years real-world corporate experience and ten years spent practicing her own spiritual mastery.

A master of change, Margz's background is both interesting and varied.

She was born and grew up in New Zealand's now-famous Marlborough winegrowing region. Her first career found her playing in a rock 'n' roll band. Her love of music is still an important part of her life, and one of her clients is internationally-recognised songwriter and musician Abbie Cardwell.

After her stint as a 'rock star', Margz settled down to a successful business career for several years, working her way up to become a financial controller and, later, a forensic business analyst to major corporations across Australia. But even though she was outwardly successful, she found herself increasingly dissatisfied with life.

Recognising that outward success does not equate inward satisfaction, Margz travelled the world in search of her reason, and her place, to shine. Luckily for those who have felt her unique glow, she learned where she shone: through her gift and passion for working with people, helping them to find their own ways to be a star.

Margz's third career - that of Personal Mentor and Muse - saw her shift from a corporate metropolitan lifestyle to a simple country life where, she says, she lives on less than she used to spend on hair care. The road has been hard, but it has been worth it. She has discovered a compelling drive for working with people in transition, helping them to bring out their greatness.

Margz mentored Dr Carolina Gonzalez, recipient of the prestigious 2004 Victorian Panasonic Young Business Women's Award of the Telstra Business Women's Awards. In the year leading up to the awards, Margz applied both her real-world knowledge and her spiritual wisdom to help Carolina develop the level of success necessary for this singular achievement.

Carolina and Abbie are not atypical examples of Margz's ability to bring out a person's greatness. Her clients have, individually, started a new business, written a new screen play, made a sea change and opened a pet minding service, had a baby, gotten married - with Margz's support, each of them is a rising star and they all shine.

Margz is an Energy Master trained traditionally in various techniques. Her clients benefit not only from her "been there-done that" mentoring, but also from the "secret ingredient", her own spiritual depth and understanding, that she brings to everything she does.
