Popular Queensland author and journalist, Hugh Lunn will unveil and discuss his latest book Words Fail Me at Caloundra Library on Wednesday 17 November at 11am.

Hugh's latest work is the long anticipated follow-up to the hugely successful and popular Lost for Words which looked at the rich, inventive and roguish language Australians used to speak before globalism arrived.

Hugh is an entertaining speaker and will draw a large and appreciative audience. He will explain the words and sayings of yesteryear with true stories and anecdotes which recapture how and what Australians spoke in the past, and compare it to the gobbledygook, jargon and corporate speak now in use.

Attendance is free, however bookings are essential. For more information or to make a booking, contact Caloundra Library on 5499 5444.

About the author:

Hugh has written a number of best-selling autobiographical books including Lost for Words, Over the Top with Jim and Vietnam - a reporter's war.

The best known of Hugh's memoirs is Over the Top with Jim, the story of his Brisbane childhood which was the best-selling non-fiction book in Australia in 1991.

After completing a cadetship at The Courier-Mail, Hugh worked overseas including as a Reuters correspondent in Vietnam and Indonesia. As Queensland editor of The Australian he was in turn sacked and re-employed by Rupert Murdoch a number of times before, aged 47 and jobless, he penned Over the Top with Jim.

In 2009 Hugh was voted as a Queensland Icon and one of 15 "influential artists" in the state's history along with the Bee Gees, Geoffrey Rush, Powderfinger and David Malouf, as part of the Q150 celebratory program.
