A forum to address the role of the workplace in suicide prevention and support will be held on the Sunshine Coast this month (September 17 and 18). Suicide Prevention in the Workplace will bring together leading world experts in suicidology and workplace suicide prevention to discuss the critical role workplaces can play in the prevention of suicide and providing support for people bereaved by suicide.

The two day forum and workshop will be held on Monday and Tuesday, September 17 and 18. Guest speakers will include international workplace suicide prevention expert Sally Spencer-Thomas and National StandBy coordinator Jill Fisher (bios follow).

The forum will also bring together many of Australia’s best practitioners in workplace suicide prevention to share their insights and practical strategies for creating a supportive workplace and recommendations for what every workplace can do to reduce the risk of suicide.

The event is being organised and hosted by ConNetica, a leading Sunshine Coast consulting firm in the area of mental health and wellbeing, with the support of local support organisation United Synergies, which runs the StandBy suicide bereavement support program in locations across Australia.

The two-day event will be held at the Caloundra Powerboat Club, Woorim Park, The Esplanade, Golden Beach.
