Revamp your wardrobe and do your bit for the environment!
Those going to the World Environment Day Festival this Sunday at the University of the Sunshine Coast will have the opportunity to revamp their wardrobe with a clear conscience by participating in one of the two fashions swaps planned for the day.
The significant impact of clothes shopping on our environment is often under-estimated considering it takes 2,700 litres of water and 3.3 kilogram of CO2 emissions to make a T-shirt. With this in mind, environmentally aware fashionistas are choosing to swap instead of shop to reduce the $1.7 billion ‘fashion waste’ in Australia every year.
The Clothing Exchange, which has been hosting national events to promote the simple notion of swapping since 2004, will also have a fashion parade on the day to showcase the types of the garments available in the swap.
Fashion Swaps will take place between 10.15am-12.30pm and 12.45pm-3pm in Lecture Theatre 7.
