What: Sunshine Coast World Environment Day Festival Who: Hosted by Sunshine Coast Environment Council (SCEC), in partnership with Sunshine Coast Regional Council, the University of the Sunshine Coast and SEQ Catchments Inc. When: Sunday 6 June 2010, 9am -- 4pm Where: University of the Sunshine Coast, Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs Details: This is a free community festival celebrating World Environment Day in the Sunshine Coast region.

The Festival provides a variety of environment-related activities including: * Keynote presentations on biodiversity, population growth and sustainability in the backyard. This includes a presentation by Simon Baltais from SEQ Sustainable Population Australia. * "Healthy treats" food and beverages * Music and entertainment * Garden workshops and local produce markets * Indigenous and cultural performances and displays * Interfaith sustainability discussion panel -- featuring Rev. Dr Clive Ayre, Rabbi John C. Cooper, Buddhist and environmental consultant Lin Martin, Kabi Kabi elder Beverly Hand, and a local Islamic representative. * Green Biz Expo showcasing how sustainability can be achieved in our daily home and business lives * ECO Flicks film festival, hosted by Noosa Integrated Catchment Association * "March of the Animals", The Cyclogists, K Karimba band and other entertainment by Linsey Pollak * A sustainable textiles fashion parade, with clothes provided by The Bamboo Boutique * Local craft stalls; as well as a Farmers Market of local produce, demonstrating the importance of food security and re-localisation. * A Transition Town display, including information on permaculture, worm farming, veggie gardening, recycling, resource conservation and more. * Kids zone activities -- including Bug World, geckoes and wildlife show, kite and instrument making, low carbon games, face painting and much more.

The 2010 Festival celebrates International Year of Biodiversity, as well as the United Nations theme of "Many Species. One Planet. One Future.".
