Friday, 2 September and Saturday, 3 September

Don't miss the opportunity to see some young stars in the making during the free "Youth in Jazz" Program from 10am to 5pm at the Noosa Jazz Festival on Friday 2, September and 9.30am - 5pm Saturday, 3 September in the Noosa Woods Park at the end of Hastings Street

The festival will be showcasing over 20 school big bands with over 450 students during these two days.  Band sizes range from 10 to 30 students.

Schools are coming from Noosa, Coolum, Sunshine Beach and further afield from Kingaroy, Toowomba, Brisbane and Gympie.

"There will be an amazing amount of young talent from all over South East Queensland blowing you away with their Glen Miller style renditions in the Noosa Woods main stage at the end of Hastings St, and many of these school and conservatorium bands are national competition champions," said Linda Jedynak, event manager.

The park will provide a free auditorium style seating in front of the main stage and a limited drinks and food hall will be provided.

"If the talent from last year is anything to go by, we are in for another great treat, as they have yet another year of studies behind them," said Linda.

Most of the schools big bands have either been on tour or had the opportunity to play for audiences overseas and locally. They have received great accolades for their prowess and presentation of the classics.

"The park will be fully catered, so there is no need to bring anything with you, just a smile and an encouraging word for the students who will be giving it their all in this two day extravaganza of fresh and young talent bursting at the seams," said Linda.

"The festival organisers are passionate about giving the students the opportunity to play to live audiences in order for them to become confident young adults and also to acknowledge their dedication to their music and to ensure they carry on with their studies in the future," explained Linda.
