Zigzag Street, the hilarious smash hit play is coming to town!
Zigzag Street explores the life and times of Richard Derrington. He is 28 years of age, suddenly single, eating badly, doing his job badly, playing tennis badly and lives in his Grandmothers house at 34 Zigzag Street, Red Hill, Brisbane.
In the play, Richard is searching for answers, looking for love and happiness, but this six week snapshot of his life is filled with chaos, poor judgement, interpersonal clumsiness and hope.
Based on the acclaimed novel Nick Earls' novel, Zigzag Street, is a La Boite Theatre Company commission and is touring regional Queensland in May and June for Queensland Arts Council and NARPACA.
The play is adapted by Philip Dean, directed by Jean-Marc Russ and stars Mark Conaghan as Richard, with Caroline Dunphy, Yalin Ozucelik, Cara McIlveen and Melissa McMahon.
QAC Ontour Onstage Manager, Jane Atkins, said the play illustrates the highly comical and witty genre found in Nick Earls' work.
"We are delighted to be presenting this production, in association with NARPACA, to regional Queensland audiences direct from its sold out season at La Boite's new theatre, The Roadhouse" Ms Atkins said.
Nick Earl's is one of Australia's most successful writers for young people, and won a Betty Task Award for Zigzag Street in 1998.
